Our bowed piano includes three articulations, two made with very long bows which are sustained (and the samples are looped). We sampled a sustained bow at both a soft and very loud articulation. We also include a short bow made from a tongue depressor and horsehair, which produces a short staccato sound.

For a while we’ve wanted to do a second tom library, taking advantage of the best sounding recording room in New York (well aside from Carnegie Hall). Using the same space, microphone setup and classic recording gear as with Drums of War we wanted do record “tom” ish sounding “toms” with multiple microphone positions so one could dial in a specific sound at will. Often when other tom libraries sit in the mix they have the tendency to not sound like toms, but more like large top heavy and unfocused drums (sometimes this is indeed fantastic to have). However we felt we needed, specifically, to at least have control over the close and far microphones to adjust the sound as needed in the track. We threw in the stage mics for good measure.

Tonehammer spend over six months developing this library with one of the best heavy session guitar players in the Scandinavia, Danne Forsblom. Danne used his custom 6, 7 and 8 string guitars in the sessions and played them through a variety of different amps and custom FX pedals. All riffs were recorded between X4 to X16 times (Yes, friggin 16 times!) with ultra-precision resulting in an unprecedently big sound.

The core stacking technique is controlled by adjustment of modwheel on the keyboard controller. The core library contains nearly 2000 riffs/phrases/licks, which are divided into 7 core tempos: 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 BPM. All the loops/riffs were meticulously edited, so they stay in sync and adapt to host tempo, so you can literally use the loops in any tempo you desire. The style of the library is a mixture of nu metal with a a touch of hard rock/funk on top. We also wanted to ensure longevity and variety in the content, so it both contains more traditional 4/4 type of rhythm riffs, while also having several hundred melodic and rhythmically memorable type of phrases, so the users can literally create new songs out of the content in a matter of minutes.

Electri6ity contains eight of the most famous and distinguished guitar tones from the history of the instrument. More than 24,000 24-bit samples were taken of each guitar. Three pickup options (front, rear, and mixed) are available on every guitar. The Epic Tom Ensemble is a large multi-sample library dedicated to massive ensemble percussion. We captured a variety of power articulations, using a combination of high-tuned 10' – 14' toms, roto-toms and octabans, various floor toms, bass drums and custom designed mega-toms. Perfect for raging battle scenes or when you just need a really loud boom. We highly recommend trying it with our Epic Dohl, Small Epic Percussion and Bamboo Stick Ensembles. All extensively recorded by some of the very best percussionists* in the world, in a high-ceiling glass, stone and tile hall specifically designed for sample recording.
Even though these instruments were all recorded naturally wet for realism and maximum audio quality in our epic recording hall, we have also incorporated advanced programming into every instrument patch that allows you to precisely and realistically shape the decay of the room reverberation with the modwheel. This allows custom "room control" shaping, all the way from massive hall down to small drum room. Welcome to Plucked Grand Piano – a library dedicated to deep sampling of plucked and hammer struck grand piano strings. The Plucked Grand Piano was created by public demand from our users, since its never been properly deep sampled before. We took a world class piano (same as Emotional Piano) through a humiliating process by recording every string with a custom pick, but with more emphasis on round robin (4 pr. string), since the playing style has a percussive quality to it. The instrument is best described as a hybrid crossbreed between a harp, clavinet, guitar/lute and the unforgettable sound of the harpsichord. In addition we added a bonus hammer-struck articulation, using a custom miniature hammer. The sound has some resemblance to a hammered dulcimer. The fancy naming and branding of the piano is irrelevant to us. We want the samples and music to speak for itself and we hope it speaks to you too.
